in loving memory of Mike Eggleston

Friend to all, family to many, and Rockhound Extraordinaire.  Mike could fix anything, build anything, and create cool equipment and tools from other people's junk, like his 5-gallon bucket rock tumblers and treadmill motor polishers.  If it could be imagined, he'd figure out how to create it!

He took great joy in sharing beautiful rocks and adventures to collect them. He shared his love of geology with thousands of grade school students through his Rock Talks.

Mike and Carol Eggleston have been instrumental in the survival and growth of the Paradise Gem and Mineral Club over the years, but played an especially critical role during the Camp Fire in providing a place of refuge for evacuees, a meeting place for the Club, and being an emotional anchor during the traumatic months of survival and transition.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Eggleston family as they grieve and transition.

Carol has asked for any show of support to be directed toward the Club they have loved and that Mike dedicated so much time and focus toward.  Please use the Donate button below or mail any contributions to the Paradise Gem and Mineral Club, PO Box 692, Paradise, CA 95967.

The April 2026 Club gem and mineral show will be dedicated to Mike's memory.  A scholarship fund for Camp Paradise is also being established.
